Drop down list full of blank entries

When I click on the insert menu on the toolbar I am presented with a very
long drop down list with a lot of blank entries as well as the correct
entries.
I cannot figure out how to remove the blank entries to shorten the list.

Can anyone help.

Safest way is to select Customize from the Tools menu and then expand the
Insert menu and select and drag each blank entry off the menu.
