Drop capital and quotation mark

I need the W to be the drop capital, but Word uses the quotation mark.
Is there a workaround?

A drop cap is just a piece of WordArt inserted automatically: You can create
your own WordArt with any text.

If you select the quotation mark and the W before inserting the drop cap,
both will be included. But it is conventional to omit quotation marks and
other punctuation from drop caps, so just lose the quote and drop the W
alone.

Thanks, Jezebel, that's part of it. With WordArt I can get a big W, but
the quotation mark and the following text are at the bottom of the W.

A. If I select the quotation mark and the W, I only get the quotation
mark as the "drop capital".
B. If I omit the quotation mark before the W, my editor complains
bitterly.

What version of Word is this? I can select any amount of text and use Format
| Drop Cap: Dropped.

Alternatively, if you already have a drop cap in the document, just click
inside the frame and type an additional letter.

I have Word 2002 (10.5818.4219) SP-2 (English) and Word 2002
(10.6612.6714) SP-3 (Czech), which both drop only the quotation mark,
no matter what is selected. Perhaps I'm just behind with the English SP
version, but I thought they were being updated automatically.

But dropping the quotation mark and adding the W inside the frame works
nicely.

I have used numerous previous versions of Word and have never had any
problem creating a drop cap from any selected text (but it must be the first
text in the paragraph).

Well, I can't account for the difference in behavior, because I can create a
"drop cap" out of any amount of selected text at the beginning of a
paragraph (and have always been able to do so).
