Drop cap in a powerpoint slide

Not easily. But you can get the effect by combining Word Art (to be your
drop cap) and multiple text boxes (one text box to line up to the right of
the Drop Cap and another text box to line up with the left and below the drop
cap). You'll probably have to experiment a little to get it to look the way
you want. You could also use a clip art letter from the clip art gallery if
you want the authentic look of the old illustrated books.
Once you have it, you can select the Drop Cap and all the text boxes by
holding down the Shift key and clicking on them, then you can click on Draw,
Group to group them together as one object.
