Drivespace compressed disk vs WinEP

Marty Roberts

I have a disk that was compressed with Win95 drivespace.
I now use WinXP and MSWord 2000 and cannot bring up the
files except a "Read this" file that says disk must
be "Mounted" and go to drivespace to do this, but WinXP
Accessories, Tools does not seem to include the
Drivespace feature. How can I bring up these files or
are they lost forever?

Hi,

You will need to decompress it with a Win95 system before you can read it in
an XP system. WinXP cannot handle this drive compression.

That was a DOS mode, 16 bit driver that is prohibited in XP> All you
can do is mount the disk on a Win98 machine that does have Drivespace,
extract the files, and transfer them in some other way (eg burn to a CD)
