Hi

I recently had to restore the system on my computer to factory settings. I
have a voyager 105 modem which worked fine before, but when I tried to
reinstall the drivers from my CD I got the following message:

can't get registry value
key = software\GlobespanVirata\Adsl
value = driver type

I've been advised that there is a corruption in windows stopping the drivers
installing as windows has tried to install its own drivers for the modem.
I've been told to make sure the modem is not connected to the system
and to do system recovery again and then that should remove the windows
driver from the system.

Is there any other way of removing the windows driver? I really don't want
to do system recovery again as I've just spent an afternoon re-downloading
software.

Any advice very gratefully received.

Regards

Bert

So you've tried visiting Voyager site and download installing updated
drivers?
Or in Hardware Devices, deleted/uninstalled the modem and on reboot
cancelled the new hw wizard, then installed drivers as per instructions?

The modem doesn't figure in Hardware Devices. It was uninstalled when I did
system recovery. The reason I can't install it is because I can't install
the drivers prior to installing the modem. If I could uninstall the modem in
that way and then install the drivers as per instuctions I would presently
be out somewhere drinking champagne from a floozy's pink stilletto rather
than contemplating a future on a 46.6kbps dialup connection. Updated drivers
from the Voyager site don't download for reasons outlined. Many thanks
anyway. Any posts are appreciated.

I assume this is a usb modem, often problomatic, if so its not a win
corruption problem its simply if you dont install usb devices as per
instructions, ie software/drivers before you plug it in, it all goes wrong.
In Add/Remove hw wizard try the show hidden devices option to see if its
listed, if so remove then try to start as per install instructions.
