DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

I get a Blue screen while playing Raven Shield, often
when a frag grenade explodes in my vacinity. The error
on the blue screen is as follows.

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Tech info:
Stop: 0x000000D1 (0x00000000, 0x00000007, 0x00000000,
0x00000000)

I am running all the updates on WindowsXP home. I have a
2.4 GHz P4, in a vpr Matrix. 512 MB ram, GeForceFX5200
(latest drivers). This has happened ever since I got the
GeforceFX and wonder what I can do to fix the issue, any
assistance would be most appreciated.

Hi Bealhen,

Here's something that might help you overcome that error.

Follow the instructions in this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q810093
which explain how to check your virtual memory and suggests
that you verify that you're using the right type of RAM for your system.

Additionally, I suggest you test your RAM using the following download:
http://www.memtest86.com/memt30.zip
After you extract that zip file, click on the README.txt file for the
instructions on how to create the boot floppy to test your RAM.

That's a specific solution that usually works. If it doesn't resolve the
error on your system Bealhen, we'll go through one of my troubleshooters. :)

usually the blue screen gives a bit more info...
something with a *.sys or *.dll name...that is culprit.

typically those errors are from newly_installed but not compatible
hardware/drivers or programs (often in /system32/drivers area).

if you installed (lately) some hardware/software...check control
panel (add/remove programs) and uninstall it and try again.

if not above...is likely a video or sound driver...probably couldn't
keep up with some display switching or sound device has wrong
setting...can try running in dx, opengle, software..etc. type of thing.

**it should be hunted down and fixed...that is something added
to the OS (almost always) or a hardware (of some kind) error.

hopefully when you update sound/video drivers
you remove (uninstall) old ones first...
then reboot to safe mode or vga mode and install latest or updates.
