Driver verifier problem

When I run the verifier, set it to verify all drivers then reboot, Windows
says it needs to be activated before I can log on. I have no internet
connection untill I log on so I have to do it by phone. The phone is in the
kitchen and my computer is in my bedroom. So, when they ask if your sitting
at your computer I said "no", and it went on into some irrelevant speel
about volume license agreements so I had to hang up and call back and lie
about where I actually was to get my activation key . I did try safe mode
and disabled driver verifier but still had to activate the licence to log
into my account. Needless to say this is recokulous because I've owned this
copy of windows xp for some time now.

Any way around the activation thing?

I looked here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;244617 ,but I knew
there would be nothing pertaining to this idiocy.

Why are you running the verifier?
There was a recent post that suggested that the scannow process may replace
manu.drivers with default winxp drivers. If this is the case winxp may see
it as changed hw. And using winxp default drivers is a bad idea.

Because of numorous blue screen errors that occur when FSB is set to
anything above 200MHz. I want to see if I have a bad driver in the bunch.
All my system drivers are up-to-date Nvidia.

The authentication problem is no doubt related to the most recent windows
verification update. Soon, Windows XP will be pirateproof, nevermind if
thousands cant log on.

I've never heard of file checker completely replacing a driver but I'll
check it out. thx for the reply
