Driver problem

I have a slide scanner to be connected through USB . After installing the
application SW which includes the USB driver I connect the scanner, and then
I get the problem that my XPSP2 reloads another (simular?) USB driver
automatically ("found new hardware...device ready for use") which is not
working well. How can I force the original driver to be kept? Thanks for any
advise..

Disconnect then uninstall the software for the scanner. Go into Device
Manager and uninstall all USB controllers then reboot and let windows
re-install the controllers. When finished, install the software for the
scanner then plug the scanner in.

You should be using the USB driver from Windows SP2.
