Driver migration

I have a unit which I only have a driver for Vista for. However, since the
manufacturer doesn't provide any XP driver, and I badly need it to work with
XP, I would like to try the Vista driver on XP. In Vista I can find the
driver file from Device Manager, but the XP driver update utility in XP won't
accept that file (a .sys file). Afaik xp needs .inf files as drivers. Anyone
any ideas?

There is no way to make a Vista driver work in XP. If the
manufacturere does not provide a XP version, one possible solution is
to locate some company/person is is willing / able to write a driver
for you. However, this is not always possible since companies are
"reluctant" to give the "programming" specs to their hardware and it
might be expensive!!

If the PC supplier or HW supplier has no compatible drivers it aint going to
work, period
There is no workaround other than using the correct o/s

Out of interest what is the unit?
