driver install error "Required section was not found in the INF"

Due to new hard-drive I'm reinstalling all software
(which all worked well on this system before!)
Downloaded latest XP driver for Canon G1, but when camera
connected, wizard cannot finish driver install. Error
message: "The Required section was not found in the
INF". When hardware wizard run again, error
message: "this device is not configured correctly (Code
1)". Also, neither wizard recognizes Canon as a camera
("generic" picture icon). Drivers and software has been
uninstalled and reinstalled multipe times!

Help?

Go to the Canon website for updated drivers.

OK, you forgot the admonition from Canon about installing the driver: Do
not connect the camera until the driver and software have been
installed.

Fix it: connect the camera, cancel the hardware wizard, from scanners
and cameras, delete the camera if it is there. From add/remove remove
all of the camera software and the Canon TWAIN application(s). Shut
down. Disconnect the camera, and do not reconnect it until the drivers
and software have been successfully installed.

Thanks, but I've uninstalled and reinstalled several
times - per instructions always careful to connect camera
last. I've tried old drivers and new drivers from the
Canon Website. No luck. Camera is not even recognized
as imaging device.

Is it recognized as a removeable disk in My Computer?

Hi,

I don't have an answer for you, but to add info to the problem, I have the same problem when I try and install my new HP printer. Again not a driver issue

Hi,

I just found the solution to my problem with the HP printer. It is due to a corrupted usb.inf file. The key for printers and for imaging devices in the registry were empty. I believe that this is related to your problem with the camera.
