I just downloaded some Winows XP Home Edition driver
updates on my machine @ home. I left the computer to do
it's thing, and when I returned, the screen size of the
images etc, was huge. No biggie I thought, & the clicked
to restart the computer. Well it restarted, but there is
nothing but black screen on my monitor! I know the
computer is running, I can hear it and I did control p
and something printed. I tried control alt delete to no
avail. Can someone help me?
Thanks

Boot into safe mode and do a System Restore to a date/time before you
downloaded and installed the updates.

Get video updates from the manufacturer, not Microsoft.

What specfic problems were you having with your old drivers?

Thanks Jerry, but I don't know how to boot in safe mode.
I think I can do the restore part.

no problems, just that a friend suggested that when I do
updates, I should updates drivers as well

F8 after BIOS posts, but before Windows starts loading.

Don't bother. System Restore should only be used as a last resort
before starting from scratch. Once you figure out when to press the F8
key, then select "Last Known Good Configuration."

And if you updated your drivers though Windows Update, this should teach
you to leave them alone. Get your drivers from your computer and/or
hardware manufacturer. Nobody that knows anything about PC computing
uses Windows Update to update their drivers.

Your friend is a moron. Don't take his advise about computing.
