Driver Cache i386 Files Deleted - Help!

D

Dave Lamar

In my haste to get a problem program working...removing drivers and cleaning
them out of my system...I inadvertently deleted many of the Windows drivers
normally found in the files in the "Drive Cache" "i386" folder. Is it
possible to re-install the driver files to that folder? How would I do
that? Would using the recovery console allow me to do that?

I now am having problem installing my sound and video drivers because they
are looking for files that should be in that folder.

Hi Dave,

Try going to Start > Run and typing sfc /scannow
(Note the space between the c and the forward slash)

This will scan your Windows files and replace the corrupted or missing
ones, it will need the Windows XP CD

Good luck
