G'Day Will,

Right-Click 'My Computer' - Click 'Manage' - see Management Window

In the Left Pane Click 'Disk Management' - wait ...
- see
all drives at Top Right

1. If there is any drive with letter 'D' then
Right-Click it - Click 'Change Drive Letter and Paths'
Change (button)
Choose a new letter (say M or N) - OK, OK
(Letter 'D' is now available for HDD 1)
2. Right-Click 'C' - Click 'Change Drive Letter and Paths'
Change (button)
Choose new letter 'D' - OK, OK
(Letter 'C' is now available for HDD 0, HDD 1 is correct at 'D')
3. Right-Click 'F' - Click 'Change Drive Letter and Paths'
Change (button)
Choose new letter 'C' - OK, OK
That fixes your HDD's, continue for other drives (CD/DVD) to suit

Won't work - the system/boot drive's letter cannot be changed from within
Windows

Sorry, but you can not. You can change the drive letter of other drives, but
not the one Windows is on.

frodo

you can't change it, and don't worry about it, it sould work just fine.
in fact, your system is now a bit more secure, because some "bad guys"
make the assumption that the system drive is C: and their scripts just
attack the C: drive blindly, so in your case you're protected from these
sort of dummies. learn to live w/ it, it's not so bad...
