Drive Letters

How can I set up drive letters so that Hard Disks appear first?

I recently moved a secondary drive from an old machine that was
running Windows 98 to one Running XP

The old drive is partitioned into D,E, F and G drives, but on the XP
machine these appear as F,G, H, and I, while the CD drives appear as D
and E.

I would like the CD Drives to be H and I, and any removable drives
(USB memory etc) to appear as J.

How can I do this?

Hi Steve,

First, reletter the CD drives as something like M, N, then reletter the old
drive's partitions as you want them. Finally, reletter the CD drives to H,
I. To do this, click start/run, type diskmgmt.msc and click ok. Right click
the drive in the graphical view and the the option to redesignate the drive
letter will be in the context menu.

Thank you very much! Just what I needed.
