Drive image and partition size modification

Shawn

My hard drive has 3 partitions, the 2nd and 3rd are NTFS.

If I...
1- I create an image with drive image of my 2nd partition.
2- Format that 2nd partition
3- Use partition magic to merge that 2nd partition with my 3rd
partition .

Will I still be able to restore the image created in step 1 to my
"new" merged and bigger drive.

Thanks

Shawn

No, that will overwrite the contents of the merged partition
with the contents of the original second partition.

You do not understand the restore basics of Drive Image: In the Restore
Wizard the selected merged partition that serves as the target will be first
deleted and finally the unallocated space that comes in place will be used
to write the partition(s) that are stored in the image file.

But then you can use Partition magic to make the new partition bigger
- if you have enough free space for PM to work.

Sure you can, but the limitation is one imposed by the FAT32 filesystem.
If the partition to be restored were an NTFS one, there wouldn't be such a
limitation at all and the restored partition would cover the entire
unallocated space area.
