Drive array question on ASUS... clarify my mind please...

I am having a brain fart in regards to drive mirroring... hoping
someone can clarify it quick...

Had a P4C800E-Deluxe. ICH5R blew out for a second time... fried both
hard drives.

Bought a P4P800SE.
Sent drives to data recovery, expecting a 250Gb SATA back with my data
on it...

Want to re-mirror that drive once I get it back.
When I hook it to the new motherboard... and recreate the mirror,
will that toast the data on the drive? I can't recall if it creates
the mirror and starts copying stuff... or if it initializes it and
then I've got to copy data to it...

I'm trying to make a gameplan in my head, once my 250gb comes back,
how to reintroduce it to the system and re-mirror it.

Install the drive with the second mirror drive disconnected, Boot and check
all is well. Then shutdown connect mirror drive reboot and rebuild mirror.
As in all cases ensure you have a backup prior to undertaking this.
Having a mirror is not an alternative to a backup

yeah no kidding.... lost both drives of the mirror... so now paying
for data recovery.

i couldn't remember though if installing a mirror on a chipset would
initialize the array by formatting both drives or not...
