Hi All,

I'm new here. Sounds like you all have some great information though!

Let me give you a little background as to what I am trying to accomplish, so
that you can better understand my question.

We've in the past had a site that was created fully with FP. It surpassed
10,000 pages, and I was starting to notice some problems with FP, as if it
was letting us know we had outgrown it. Well, we host several sites for
friends and businesses locally, and we like to retain the ability for them to
easily log in and edit their sites using FP.

We upgraded our server, it now has four processors and a lot of memory, and
I decided that I would like to give Dreamweaver a try. I liked how much more
encompassing it was, and how much more professional looking my sample pages
were.

In any case, I'm giving it a shot to create the site in Dreamweaver using
DWT, with editable and non-editable regions, and spawning new pages from the
main DWT. I'd like to be able to allow folks to log in using FP remotely, and
create and update their sites. But I'd also like them to have access to the
DWT.

Here's my dilemma: What I've tried to do is open my site remotely using FP,
and then try to attach the DWT. Frontpage complains about the DWT having no
editable regions. But I know for a fact that it does, as I created it that
way in DW. If I OPEN the DWT in FP by just double-clicking on it, it comes
up, and looks exactly like it should, however nothing can be edited on the
page.

Is this some permissions problem? Or am I only going to be able to edit this
main DWT within the DW program? Is there a setting or something that I missed?

OR, am I just going about this the wrong way?

Thanks!

Heather

Dreamweaver MX 2004 and Dreamweaver MX use a different template markup
syntax than FP uses. So, templates created with either of these programs
would not be compatible with FP.

Dreamweaver4/Ultradev4 and earlier use exactly the same template markup
syntax that FP2003 uses, so these files would be interchangeable.

Thanks, Murray!
