Hi all. when I design my forms on access 2003 there is always some
inconsistency between the form size I see in design view mode and the one I
see in Form view.
If for example I place some buttons in the form footer while all the
controls are in the detail section, although the form's footer is only big
enogh to hold the buttons, when I swtoch to form mode the buttons are not in
the same position relative to the detail section. It'seems that some extrra
space has been added !! How can I have exact control on the form dimensions
? Another question....when I'm in design mode, what is the meaning of the
part of the window with the grid ? As far I can tell it's not necessarily
the size of the form when displayed in form mode.

If I understand what you're describing, the grid is the
form's design space, which will be displayed exactly in
single form view.

The total size of a form in form view is the sum of the
heights of each section in design view and the same width as
in design view.

The only other factor that I can think of that might come
into play here is that if the form view is resized to a
height that is different than the sum of all its sections,
the detail section is expanded/truncated so that the Header
and Footer can be display completely. Using the forms
AutoResize property will adjust the form's size to an exact
fit, but only when the form is initially opened (not when
switching from design view. An already open form size can
be set to the AutoResize size by using the menu item
Window - Size to fit Form
