Dragging images to the desktop

Whenever I try to drag an image to my XP desktop, I get
the little circle with a slash through it, and cannot
drag it. If I right-click and do "save picture as", it
defaults to BMP, even on images I know are JPG or GIF.
It only does this occasionally - sometimes I can drag a
JPG with no problem, other times, it just won't work, and
I have to save it as a bitmap. Any ideas? I'm using XP
Home, and IE6 (all up-to-date). Thanks!

I'm using Win98 and IE 5.5 and the same thing happens once in awhile. The
circle with the slash is like saying No! I guess as some sites lock their
pics beyond the simple No Right Click situation. If you search this
newsgroup someone else asked a similar question recently and an MVP was
aware and provided a link to get you straightend out.
