drag to storyboard then crashes

I am having a problem dragging certain clips to the
Storyboard and by the time I get to dragging the 4 clip
to the storyboard slot, the program shuts down with no
reason at all. Here are the steps that I took to explain
further.

1) File/Import into collections...
2) Select a folder that contain 10 clips in MPEG format
3) by the time that I select the second or 4th clip and
drag it to the storyboard, window Movie player shuts down
4) I reopen Window Movie Maker and try again and the same
thing happens.

Now this is the confusion in all of this, if I select
another folder with the same type of extension - SAY
MPEG, it works. What could cause this to happen, where it
accepts one folder with mpeg and another folder with the
same mpeg fomat but shuts down Window Movie Maker?

Thank-you

It might be that playback/importing of MPEG2 content is completely dependant
on the third party MPEG2 decoder installed on your computer. Most don't work
well. See the Importing Source Files... Video... MPEG2 page of
www.papajohn.org

Or it might be an acceleration or codec issue. See the Problem Solving...
Acceleration and Codecs page.

Hi there,

I have had the exact same problem. It is a codec issue, at least it was for
me. You can begin the process of proving this by simply dragging the first
of those files to the time line and then do nothing else. If I am correct
the computer will crash just the same. If I do prove to be correct a
solution can be found in the problem solving section of www.papajohn.org
(Take a look at Acceleration and Codecs)
