Drag file to folder starts installer

Something bizarre just started happening in Windows XP. I was having a
problem with all shortcuts, that were to folders, not working. If I
double-clicked on a folder shortcut, nothing happened. I would
occassionally see multiple explorer.exe processes in the task manager.
Reinstalled the OS, and the problem went away, but only after installing
all XP updates.

NOW my problem is this. If I drag (copy or move) a file to a folder on
the desktop or anywhere else, the XP starts my Roxio installer. I press
cancel three times in a row, and then the file is copied. This happens
if I just drag the file with the left button, or if I right button drag
and select either copy or move.

It appears as though someplace in XP, it has associated the "copy"
command with another application. In this case the Installer.

Anyone come across this before. MS knowledgebase doesn't mention this.

Thanks in advance,

Thanks David! That worked. I wish I knew why it started asking for the
disc. I had to insert the disc, it spun for a few seconds and then the
dialog closed.

I watch users click cancel and go crazy. Windows Installer has all these features, like self repair or install little bits as you use something (so network traffic is in little chunks). I don't know what Roxio is doing but letting the computer do what is wants is always a good idea.

I had same prob, but when letting installer run, it came up empty
trying to find some files. After clicking "Ignore" through all the
unfound files, fixed the problem :) Thanks
