drag and drop on Mailbox

I'm using Outlook 2003. I've not used Outlook in a long while.

My tree of "All Mail Folders" looks like (as expected):

Mailbox - LastName, Jeff
Deleted Items
Drafts
Inbox
etc.

I dragged an email message onto the root of this tree, i.e. onto the
node that says "Mailbox - LastName, Jeff." Why? Because I thought the
root could contain emails; I had no reason to think otherwise. My bad.

The end result of the drop is that the email appears to have
disappeared completely. Interesting feature. Clicking on "Mailbox -
LastName, Jeff" just displays Outlook Today. A search against all
emails doesn't find the email I dropped.

Are these emails truly gone? If not, where might they reside?

Thanks in advance,
Jeff

They are still in the folder;

Greetings Robert,

Many thanks for the quick response. Oddly, only one of the emails I
dropped yesterday still appears; a handful of others are nowhere to be
found.

Regards,
Jeff

Does the foldersize indicate that there should still be items there?
Make sure that there is no filter set on the view or reset the current view
on the folder.
