Dr Watsons Postmortem Debugger

Just a few minutes ago, IE froze while trying to access a
basic webpage--espn.go.com. I'm not sure of the sequence
of events but an error message soon popped up saying Dr
Watsons Postmortem Debugger was not responding. I ended
the program. It appears I have normal operation of the
computer. I googled "Dr Watsons Postmortem Debugger" and
found a whole host of similar queries. Some said remove
it, some said it's a normal part of Windows. Most
respondents seemed to be afflicted with Dr Watsons--they
were unable to access My Computer, Control Panel, etc. I
have no such problems. Microsoft Anti-Spy finds
nothing. Should I stand pat? What is Dr Watsons?
Should I be worried and/or take steps? Please advise.

Cheers

Stand pat, I think.

The Dr Watson debugger is a standard part of Windows and has been around a
good long time. It is responsible for the crash reports that you may have
the opportunity to send on to Microsoft after an application crash, among
other things.

Please do send these reports, particularly if they relate to Microsoft
Antispyware. This is instant feedback to the developers about how the code
is working in the real world, and they do use the information.

gives more information than you might want, I suspect!
