Downloads Hang at 99%

I wonder why my downloads hang at 99% and never finish that last 1%?

Is this downloads from a network share ?

If it is download from internet etc, posting in client.networking or tcpip
newsgroup might help.

I had one sit at 99% for a long time, but it did eventually finish. I do the
big ones from MSDN library as overnighters now because they can take
forever. Even with decent bandwidth.
 
Do you have Defender installed? If so it is likely Defender checking it
out.
 
Default install of Vista does install Defender. I don't have the same
result on my XP machine where I have installed defender.
 
I don't why this is happening.

I have switched to firefox for all my downloads.
 
Uninstall IE 8 beta. If the problem goes away you have found your solution.
