hi,

i am not sure if this is a vista problem or what... but since i moved
to vista, constantly, i download files through IE or firefox and they
come out corrupted or broken, other words, unusable... no pattern, no
reason to it. no particular websites either. zips, exe's... anyone
have any idea why this is happening?
thanks

Use a download manager likewww.freedownloadmanager.org

this installs a add-on for firefox I believe, if not install the flashgot
add-on

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/220

even if you didnt have this problem a download manager is very a very good
tool...

tell me if this helps

well, i tried the download manager and it didn't really do anything
different than normal browser downloading. everything is still coming
up corrupted. ironically, it took a while before i could even
download the .exe for free download manager without it coming up as
corrupted. is there anything else that could be wrong?
thanks

lots of things can be wrong

what kind of antivirus do you have?

firewall? Try closing them off and downloading.

if you can download well, then its them doing something bad to your pc

what kind of internet connection do you have?

I have cable internet (time warner nyc). i don't use a software
firewall, i rely on my router firewall. for an antivirus, i use
antivir which i never had problems with before. they just released
the vista supported version, but now that i disabled it, i don't seem
to be getting that problem anymore. i guess that's the cause, i'll
report it to their website so they can look into fixing it. i've
switched to avg....
thanks!

actually, it's still happening with avg too... enabled and disabled,
so maybe it's not the anti-virus after all?
