I want to thank those individuals who responded to my
problem re getting rid of (apparently) a CoolWebSite
hijack. CWS Shredder (of all those I tried) did the
trick. But now I am left with a different problem.
Apparently in all the trials to rid the hijacker
something got fouled up. My home page stays put but I am
unable to download any PDF file. This occurs with both
IE 6 and Netscape 7.02 (I have both). The browsers just
hang as if waiting for a connection, or, they say "done"
but nothing is done. Are there any registry entries that
may have been clobbered that could cause this? Any other
suggestions short of re-installing NT?

Again, thanks for your help.

In your attempts to fix things did you uncheck "Enable third-party browser
extensions" in Tools | Internet Options | Advanced? If so, recheck it.

Thanks for your advice. It turned out that my Adobe
Acrobat reader was either busted or no longer functioning
correctly with IE6 (Duh!). After un-installing old
version and re-installing new version, all is well again.

Thanks. This site is absolutely invaluable as a source
of information for these products. Try getting this kind
of help from anywhere else. I'm very grateful.
