Downloading Updates Error

My system is connected to the Internet and I can browse
normally. However, when Microsoft Spyware attempts to
check for updates, the "Cannot Connect to the Internet"
error comes up...

HELP!

If you installed recently there are no updates anyway.
In Directory of C:\your program files\AntiSpyware

In your Firewall identify the blocked programs
and enable them for FTP / HTTP ie "Download managers"
4 programs MAY need access.
Try one at a time.

gcasSWUpdater.exe
GIANTAntiSpywareMain.exe
GIANTAntiSpywareUpdater.exe
MSSSRT.exe

The last one is the reporting tool that enables MS
to get a report from you, it does work but has bugs that
you will find when you try to use it.
Get the reporting tool by
Tools->Suspected Spyware Report...
Danger this tool also sends a list of all your system
programs in use to MS without asking you first.

thanks for posting accurate information about firewall
configuration. There is such information in the program
help, but as I recall, it has some inaccuracies.

However, you are mistaken about the availability of
updates. The current definitions are 5693. The update
level included in the current download, according to the
web site, is 5687.
