I downloaded a number of freefonts from the internet and
saved them into my fonts folder. They are .zip files.
They do not show up in the fonts folder. I resaved them
in a different (new) folder created for the purpose and
tried to transfer them over. When I double click on the
icon it says they are true type fonts and do not give me
instructions for unzipping. What do I need to do to be
able to install these fonts and use them in my windows
documents?

Use winzip (3rd party software that you can download from
winzip.com) to unzip the files to any folder but the
c:\windows\fonts folder. Once you have unzipped the
files, go to start >> settings >> control panel >> fonts.
From the file menu select install new fonts and browse to
the folder where you unzipped the files to from the zip
file.
If you are unsure of how to unzip the zip file, I
recommend you use the help tool in winzip, or the wizard.
Pretty staight forward.

Hello,

1. Open Windows Explorer
2. Goto Windows\Fonts directory
3. Click File, Install New Fonts
4. Browse to where the zip file, Or font file is and
highlight it, and click OK.

You should have been able to just unzip it into your
fonts diectory.

Good luck
