downloading 6.1 service pack

My drive crashed and I reformatted etc.The problem
is,After 3 attempts,I get a message that I cant download
a particular file,sorry I did not write it down,Continue
anyway?.I chose yes after that I lost my internet
service,E-mail,Aol,Explorer/I have done this down load
before with no bad results/Question 1:can I continue to
operate without service pack 6.1/I got all the other
security downloads/has someone corrupted the microsoft
site?
Please answer asap

If you are running Windows XP, you cannot download
IE 6.1 from the internet. You need to following this
