XP Pro IE6

I need to download the latest txt page from my hosted web site. I use a .htm
page from my local c:\drive. It contains links to the internet web site
where the txt files are located. I do SAVE TARGET AS to download the page to
my C: drive. The page appears to download but I frequently get the previous
version of the page - not the newest version. When this happens I get the
older version with a download and also see the older version if I view the
page using IE. The pages are updated once or twice daily by FTP. I have IE
settings CHECK FOR NEWER VERSIONS OF STORED PAGES - EVERY VISIT TO THE PAGE.
If I go to the page with IE and use CTL-F5 the page changes to the new
version, then if I do a download I get the new version. But this defeats the
purpose - I need to use the SAVE TARGET AS from the link on my local .htm
page and I need to it to be very simple for the employees to use it
properly. Going to the page and doing CTL -F5 to force an update adds extra
steps and complicates the process. I have NO control over the web server
settings which are apparently giving me a cached copy.

Any ideas - I need to get the absolute newest version of my text file
without any extra steps, without doing CTL-F5 or anything. Some way to
configure IE to get the new txt page the same way as using CTL-F5
automatically? A script or command or switch - or something to force the
client to always get the new page? Or even some software utility thing? I
tried something called HTTPGET but it faled also.

Clear your TIF each time you close IE. Check the Advanced option:

Empty Temporary Internet File folder when browser is closed

(Options, Advanced tab, Security section)

Note: I'm not sure but I suspect that what it really means technically
is removing iexplore.exe from the tasklist. In case you ever have
to deal with hidden windows it might be a good idea to check
on that condition before assuming that closing all IE windows
implies that.

Good luck
