Download for Neto 6

Somehow I got Nero 6 sometime ago as a freebie, but I'd like to get it for
another machine. I have no idea where the original install package is. I'm
aware that there are version 7-9 now, but for the moment I'll settle for 6.
I see a site that has 6 update, but I would think there must be a
predecessor to that.

Just a suggestion why dont you use some free burning software there are many
out there you could download. I uninstalled Nero over a year ago as Nero was
becoming to bloated.
I use imgburn its not much to look at but it get the job done and its a
small footprint on your pc compared to Nero and it never made a coaster yet
for me.

The last two drives I bought, came with a lite version of Nero. The last drive
cost me $35, which is a good deal. Especially considering the full
Nero package is bloated.

My drive is even cheaper at Newegg. $24 bucks for burner plus software.

I've also managed to burn a disc, using K3D in Linux. There
are also free applications of one sort or another for
Windows. (imgburn).

You may have picked it up with a drive but I've never heard of Nero
being free. Given away like it is, but its normally $$$.

Try CDBurnerXP. It looks alot like Nero's explorer type windows so you
can drag and drop files to a composition and then burn that composition.
It also does ISO's, and DVD's, Audio CDs, and has a copier. Pretty
much the normal usage a user wants.

I certainly didn't pay for it. Aside from that, I've used it quite a bit and
really don't want another product to learn its idiosyncrasies.

I'll stick with it as in my reply above. Ah, good point. It is likely I did
get it via a hard disk purchase, so I'll look there.

I got CyberLink with my Gateway laptop two years ago as a freebie, with the
potential as an upgrade. I decided today to see if performed faster than
Nero on my desktop for an almost similar task that I waded through on Nero
for an hour the previous day. The laptop is 2 core and probably faster,
since it's newer than my desktop. I couldn't copy a video DVD at all despite
the fact it should do it, and it's obvious it's set up to do so. Now there's
a program with some weirdness. I took it off this afternoon.

Nero was never a complete "freebie." Nero exists in two different
flavours:

Retail boxed product

Bundled with a burning drive


You more than likely got the Nero "bundled" with your burning drive.
It may not work on any other drives other than the one it shipped with.

Yes, I have a vague recollection of calling maybe Western Digital because
the Nero provided didn't work. They have have sent me a replacement. Vague.
