Downgrading to XP after Vista activation

I have activated my copy of Vista Home Premium obtained via OEM upgrade.

Due to certain incompatibilities with software needed for work, I need to
downgrade to XP.

If I downgrade to XP, and later choose to upgrade to Vista again, will
activation fail?

Not if the hardware is the same. You may need to activate over phone if
there's been some changes though.
