DotNetNuke for performance and configurability?

Hi,

We are trying to develop an online digital asset management system for
corporate clients. In a hosted mode deployment for some clients, this
application will be hosted on our servers and users belonging to our
clients will access them using a URL such as http://<hostURL>/<clientname>.
In a licensed mode deployment for other clients, the entire app will
be deployed on a server belonging to the client and will be accessed
as http://<clientURL>/app.

We would like to create multiple portals, one per client, and also
customize the layout per client. The customized app will be either
hosted wherein it will run on our server, or licensed wherein it will
be deployed on the client's server.

Browser compatibility is very important as the portals will be
accessed from all sorts of new browsers from Windows and Mac.

The elements/modules on the portal should load very fast so as to give
a desktop-app like experience. This is more like an application for
managing online photos, videos, etc., editing them online.

The user who creates and customizes the portal should get a chance to
enable/disable certain features like browsing video, search photos,
Favourites, etc. Each feature should be further customizable for look
and feel.

Also, it should be possible to change the names of certain fields/
labels displayed on some forms inside modules on a per-client basis.

Is DotNetNuke the right tool for such a system considering the
performance and configurability? Is there any other suggestion?

Thanks,
Yash

DotNetNuke is OK so long as you are happy with the defaults... The moment
you need to try to do any sort of modifications, forget it...
