Dot Matrix printer errors after multiple reports

I have a form that has three buttons on it. Button 1 prints Report 1. Button
2 prints Report 2. Button 3 prints Report 1, then Report 2. The reports are
identical in design but print to different printers (although they are both
Panasonic KX-P3196 printers).

If we send a number of print jobs down, one after the other, after a number
of them print, the printer stops and all the lights start flashing.
Sometimes, a line of jibberish prints out, then half a form feed (or no form
feed), then it carries on printing but not on the next item to be printed.
It's like it dumps some of the print job(s) and then recovers and carries on.

It is not consistent in the number of print jobs it prints before failing.
It is not always failing on the same part of the report. It is not always
failing on the same record.

It's a fairly simple report (a Packing Slip) with 3 sub-reports. We've tried
removing the sub-reports without any luck. We've changed to printer fonts -
no luck.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Shelley,

I don't think you have an Access report problem. It sounds
like the printer's internal buffer is being overflowed.
(Data is being transfered from the pc to the buffer and is
not being stopped when the printer buffer is full) The
comms between the PC and printer are not correctly
configured or are broke.

If you print a large Word document or something else large
I suspect you will suffer similar problems.

Best of luck,

Terry
