Doskey in Vista Ultimate

N

news.epix.net

I cannot get doskey to work with my Vista Ultimate. I've tried quite
a few times to run Doskey /REINSTALL and >Doskey from the system32 folder
in
the command window and it has only worked once.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this?

Thanks,
Marc

Doskey, in the command prompt window, is on by default - whenever you open a
window. Just press the up arrow and you will see this is so.

Thank you for your answer Richard.

The up and down arrows do nothing. For example, if I key in >ping
192.168.1.1 and hit enter
and wait for the ping response to finish, when the dos prompt appears again
and I up or down arrow
it does nothing.

(btw, I've been a FoxPro and VB programmer for 15 years.)

Thanks,

I just tried that. Works here. When was the last time you actually powered
down your computer. It is amazing how many strange glitches that will solve
for. Same thing for when my HP printer does strange things. I disconnect the
power for a few seconds and everything goes back to normal when the power is
reapplied.

It could be that a capacitor on the M/B is not bleeding off it's charge when
it should - or some other strange occurrence.

I, too, am able to use doskey. I don't know, really, why it isn't working
for you, but you could see if the file is damaged by running this command
(by right-clicking on the Command Prompt shortcut, and choosing Run as
Administrator):

sfc /SCANFILE="C:\Windows\System32\doskey.exe"
