I would like to use a real version of dos, and I am
wondering where I may get a copy of ms-dos, as I
understand the dos in xp is not the same as earlier
versions. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

DOS isn't sold any more, hasn't been since 1995-1996.
You can still find copies of Windows 98 SE, however (avoid ME as it makes it
a pain to get to its underlying "DOS.")

Alternately, look for things like FreeDOS, or a DOS emulator. IBM may also
still be selling DOS 2000. (Updated IBM DOS 7.)

Here's one place: www.drdos.com

you can find MS-DOS 6.22 listed on www.pricewatch.com under

It's not that DOS in XP is different than earlier versions, but that
XP contains no DOS whatsoever.

If you look around you can probably find a version of DOS that will
suit your fancy. I bet I still have MS-DOS 6.22 diskettes floating
around in a storage bin somewhere. As old as those floppies are they
are almost certainly no good anymore.
