DOS window will not stay full screen

I have an old DOS program that I use. I just purchased a new laptop, running
windows XP. I have run this old DOS program on my old desktop and did not
have any problems. When I run my old DOS program on the laptop, it starts in
a window. If I enter "ALT ENTER", a full screen flashes momentarily, but
then reverts to a window. Is there a way to keep the program running full
screen?
