DOS Help files on WinXP

I installed my old DOS help file "help.hlp" and the DOS "help.com" program
from my old Windows 98 CD into the same folder on my Windows XP PC.
Double-clicking Help.com can read help.hlp just fine. When I double-click on
the help.hlp file itself, XP complains that help.hlp is a DOS help file.
What I would like to know is a ference for the internal format of the old
DOS help files, and is there a modern Windows utility that can read them?

Thanks in advance,

John F.
