Hi

I was using a portable running Windows XP Pro connected
to a Windows server on a domain caled work. I log on to
the portable via either the "work" domain log in or onto
a separate account on the portable regardless of whether
I have been at work or at home. My Emails are separately
stored under the different log ons.

What has happened is that the portable has now been
connected to a workgroup for home use by changing the
computer name and domain or no domain settings becuase I
have left the job I was at. This has meant that I cannot
access the user account set up via the work domain to
retireve my emails. I have tried to change the portable
settings back to domain networking but it will not allow
me to as it cannot find the domain controller to validate
the account username and log on.

Any ideas on how do I get the account back so I can
retrieve these emails?

Thanks

What mail client, what kind of mail account?
You can't get back on the domain now - you could've logged in to the domain
account while disconnected and exported to whatever/wherever you liked,
before you changed to a workgroup.

.
Thanks for the reply
I am using Outlookand it is a POP account. Even though I
cannot get back onto the domain log on, is there a way to
retrieve the emails that I received while logged on under
the domain logon?

Yes - should be. If you're using NTFS, you'll need to make sure you've taken
ownership of the old profile directory (it *is* there, isn't it?) in
documents & settings....
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q268019& is written
for W2k but should still apply. Then search for *.pst on your hard drive -
make sure you search hidden files/folders as well. You can move it (& rename
it) if you like and point Outlook at it....
http://www.slipstick.com/config/movepst.htm may help.
