Domain name question with regards Who is

Hi all

I have a .co.uk name and a .com name, I have opted out of the who is reg for
the .co.uk name but I can't do it for the .com

How can I avoid having all my details available for the domain name, can I
just remove my name and address? or is there another way.

You probably can't for the .com.

ICANN has been clamping down on fake information in domain records, and some
registrars are following their lead.

You might be able to to switch to a different registrar, (try Tucows, they
have really bad info availble and don't seem to give a shit) but it's only a
matter of time before valid information must be exposed.

Check with your current domain provider, as some allow you to hide your information. Network
Solutions does, I don't know about the others.

There are lawyers who provide their services to function as proxies for
businesses that do not want their identity made known.
I discovered this years ago when researching corporate ownership. It is
legal (obviously) and actually quite common. Because lawyers are 'officers
of the court' no registrar can prevent you from using a lawyer as a proxy
registrant as it will be the lawyer's firm that is named and identifed in
the registrar's records. Interested persons should call their state's B.A.R.
and ask for referrals to lawyers that provide this type of service.
