I don't know what you mean by "keep its profile the same". When you log
onto the domain, you are logging on with a different user profile than
when you log onto the same machine with a local profile. Set your
domain user profile up the way you want it. If this isn't what you
mean, then please post back with details.

We installed a PDC and the profiles are large. I have tried "settings and
transfer wizard." and it works, but for the larger profiles it does not work
that well. as HDD space is a problem.
Under NT4 you could copy a profile to another user and it would work but I
can this to work under XP.

Perhaps there is a problem copying a profile from NT4 to XP. I don't
know since I don't have any clients with domains using NT4 for PDC.
Suggest you post your question to the MS server newsgroup since the
regular posters are fantasticly knowledgeable.
