domain crash

Hello...

please help wiht the following scenario:

Domain: A.com
Users: 2000
Email: exchange 2000
Email client: Outlook
Workstation clients: 95,98,me,2000,xp pro

Domain controllers for domain A are physicaly stolen. new
domain controllers are purchased. A domain is setup
identical to the stolen domain. Clients machines that are
running 95,98, me, should not have a prob logging into the
new domain since there authentication is diff from nt
based machines. They are only asked to changed their
outllok mail delivery locations the first time they open
outlook.

Win2000 and xp machines are the prob. In short, how do i
keep the user profile for the client machine? i have to
disjoin them from teh old domain, and rejoin them to the
new domain. when i do this, the user profile is written
over. Iver tried this in several test situations, and
this seems to be the case. So when the user logs in to
the new domain, no outlook profiles are there and the suer
desktop is default.

any help GREATLY APPRECIATED

Hardball,

Not true....er, your process is correct. However, the old profiles are not
written over. You might have a problem if you tried to go to the Users
Profile tab, select the old profile and do the "copy to...". However, you
can go into Windows Explorer to achieve the same results. it just takes a
little longer.

HTH,
