Hi sll
I was adding another dc to my domain, but the instalation
did not complete. The computer account was not created
and the dc computer name is pointing to another computer
name that does exist.

I tried running dcpromo to demoted, but it does not let me
do it. What should I do to delete or demote this dc that
was not successfully promoted.

Please any help

Thanks
I have 2 others dc, should I run the metadata cleanup on
any of these dc?.
After the metadata cleanup; Should I try to demote again
the failed server or just may I reinstall windows and try
to promote again?

Thanks for your help.

The metadata cleanup will apply to the entire AD database, no need to run it
on the other DCs.

Is there anything else installed on the failed server that you'll miss? If
it were me, I'd reformat/reinstall before trying to run dcpromo again.
Obviously if you're running production apps on it, that'll be a less
appealing option.

Thanks
I ran the command on the failed server and after I typed
the command "connect to server eldpdc2" -eldpdc2 is the
name of the server-; I got the following error:
ldap_bind_sW failed with 0X52<82<local error>.
I can see the failed server in the ad on the others 2 dc,
should I run the metadata cleanup on any of those 2 dc.

Thanks again for your help.

Yes, I'm sorry, I could've been more clear there. Run the metadata cleanup
process on an existing (functional) domain controller. But you only need to
run the process -once-, not once on each DC.
