I upgraded a notebook PC from WinXP Home to WinXP Pro. I'm unable to connect
to the local domain. I get error that it can't find the domain. When I look
at Active Directory/ Computers, the DNS data shown does not pick up the full
DNS information. What have I missed. Other PCs that had WinXP Pro at start,
connect right away. Any ideas?

Hi,

Did you join this PC to the domain or are you just trying to access the
domain resources / PC's etc. via drive mapping?

Domain admin (is that you?) will need to reset the computer account and
then you should:
1. Force the notebook to join a workgroup and reboot
2. Join the NB to the domain. Do you get the Welcome pop-up? Then Re-boot.

Turn off simple file sharing in Explorer /Tools/Folder options/ view (tab)

What happens now?

Hi Create Window,
The goal is to join the domain. Login to the domain, share printers, etc.
It already belonged to a Workgroup. I'll try that with IE and file sharing.
Thank you
