hi, i am using win xp pro sp2 and it doesn't shut down or restart or goes to
stand by mode. when i try to shut it down, it frezes to the screen: windows
is shuting down...

three checks (same as above thread):
a) you did an update of xp over a prior windows ? (must be clean)
b) your thirds software installed could be the problem...look for who
c) XP supports the following two methods of power management: Advanced
Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) and Advanced Power Management
(APM), when ACPI support is not installed, Windows XP installs APM (The apm
tab is present and enabled in the Power Options tool in Control Panel or
isn't ?) if is enable and have problem try to update bios
