When my XP (home) crashes (I now have SP2 on it), it
starts to dump the memory for a milisecond then cuts out
and reboots. When it reboots, it doesn't automatically
run chkdsk to repair the problem.

The file system is NTFS

Can any of you guys help me fix this problem?

Mike

While running windows, go to start/run/type: chkdsk
it will start running leave it alone tell it completes

Chkdsk doesn't run automatically when the computer
crashes as it did before XP. You need to run it yourself
by going to the Run box and typing: CHKDSK /F Then you
answer Yes to the Run at next boot? question, and then
reboot to allow it to run and fix any problem.

Set the computer to not automatically restart on an error. Then when it
crashes it should give a blue screen with a detailed error message.
Record it verbatim and repost with the message.

To set the computer to not restart, right click on My Computer, choose
Properties, Advanced, Startup and Recovery Settings. Untick the box
automatically restart.
