Hi All, I was wondering if this bug has been fixed in XP, to eliminate
it's wiping out Vista's restore points when the 2 OS's are set up as
dualboot?

Thanks for any links or thoughts.......... katy

I do not have a problem with Vistas restore points being affected by dual
booting XP. Probably because when I setup Vista I already had XP installed.
I disconnected the XP hard drive and installed Vista on a separate hard
drive. After completely installing Vista, and getting all the available
updates, I re-connected my XP drive and the dual boot options appeared, but
XP does seem to affect anything on the Vista drive, except for having it as
part of My Network.

Vista does not just go out and pick up the XP boot if XP is disconnected at
the time Vista is installed. XP will also delete the restore points if the
drive is connected and not hidden or encrypted. Don't know what you haven't
disclosed, like maybe using 3rd party boot manager which would explain both.

Yes, Windoze tends to dumb down its users. Why in the name of gawd would a
mature operating system need to have restore points in the first place!?
The whole methodology of using a "registry" and the stupidity of doing so
is probably what lead Microsoft to using restore points. What a toy
operating system.

I haven't hid anything, I use the standard boot manager that comes from
Microsoft.
