Does Word have a feature comparable to Quick Mark in WordPerfect?

WordPerfect has a feature called "Quick Mark", when you press Control + Shift
+ Q, you make a quick mark in your document. Then you can go to another part
of the document to check out something else and then return to your original
place by pressing Control + Q. Does Word have a similar feature. I know
about Shift F5, but that only goes back to the previous three cursor
locations, essentially. When using this Quick Mark feature, you may move to
many places in the document before you want to return to the place you
marked. When you press Control + Q you jump immediately back to the place
you started without having to go back through all the places you stopped on
the way.

I think you could use bookmarks for this, but you will end up cluttering
your document with bookmarks and it is a bit more cumbersome than the quick
mark feature in WordPerfect. You can only have one quick mark in a document
and every time you use it, the previous one will be replaced by the new one.
It was a very handy feature and we are trying to find a way to replicate it
in Word. Can you help us?

Hi Debby

Word doesn't have anything like this. It is possible to create such a thing
in VBA. The method I've used in the past essentially does what you had in
mind: create a new bookmark in the place you've chosen, and then, when
you're ready, go back to it. You just need to ensure that each time you
begin the process, your code deletes any existing bookmarks of this kind.

Alternative ways of getting around a document fast are to use the Document
Map (but only if you've properly applied styles to your document) and
Outline View. For the latter, see

You can use a bookmark the same as a QuickMark. If you use the same bookmark
name, Word will move the existing bookmark rather than create a new one. You
could presumably record or write a macro to do this and assign Ctrl+Shift+Q
to it. If Go To [bookmark] is the last browse action, you can then use the
browse arrows to repeat it.
