As well, software for multiple desktops is much more prevalent
than for virtual desktops. Not everyone understands the
distinction. Multiple is almost self explanatory - you can
have several desktops and arbitrarily choose which one to
display at any given time. Virtual desktops are when the
desktop has more pixels than the monitor and you scroll
the desktop to select the portion that is visible on
the monitor. And then you can have multiple virtual desktops.
And then there are all the options for desktops on multi-monitor
systems ...
