Does Vista Basic interface use new desktop composition engine?

Does Vista Basic interface use new desktop composition engine (obviously
without any special effects) ? I have a DirectX 7 graphics card with 64MB
video ram.

Vista Home Basic does have the desktop composition - increased stability and
the "smooth window re-draw", however it only has Aero Basic (which is the
"scrap metal" theme".)

Ok, but the importance for me is having better performance in windows
re-drawing with the new desktop composition.
